INTRODUCTION:

For many women, just taking the average dose of every formula works very well. For other women, fine tuning the dosages of their various formulas can make all the difference in terms of the best results without side effects.

I’ve worked with women who simply didn’t get results without taking a large enough dose of herbs - and women who always got better results with very small doses of herbs.

Feel free to experiment with fine-tuning the dosages of your different formulas (hint - it helps to know what each formula is for - one for heat one for mood etc.)

It’s common to take a larger dose for more severe discomforts then reduce to a “maintenance” dose once the discomforts are under good control. For example you might go from 2 squirts twice a day to 2 squirts once a day of a formula you’re taking to help with hot flashes.

When your discomforts are mild and are staying that way with smaller doses of herbs, consider adding in adaptogenic protection or moving to a Stage 3 combination. That way the bulk of your herbal dose each day is protective herbs that support healthy aging and build up your immune system and energy - and just a small amount is targeted at specific discomforts.

What about the total? How much is too much?

When choosing a dose for a particular formula - take into account how many other formulas you’ll be taking at the same time.

For example, if I’m taking 4 different herbal tinctures, I’ll likely take a slightly smaller dose of each one. If I’m just taking one formula at a time - I’m likely to take a larger dose.

But yes it’s OK if you end up taking 3 of these and 2 of those and 2 of those and 3 of those....

One of my herbal teachers said on average he would take 9 - 15 capsules twice a day AND in addition would add squirts of tincture when he was drinking tea each day. And that was just his preventative wellness program.

If you’re going much over that it might be more than your system can absorb and use - consider addressing just one discomfort at a time so you can use some of the formulas now and switch them out for other ones in a few months when you’re ready to address the next issue.

Here are the average dosage ranges for the different forms of herbs:

How it works:

I'll give you dosage ranges - from the lowest dose to the highest dose.

The middle of the range is the "regular" dose for steadily changing how you're feeling.

The high end of the range is the maximum dose for the fastest relief and biggest changes in the shortest time. Often this is used for 2 - 12 weeks (not necessarily long term) - then decreased as symptoms come under control. In some cases, if this is your only formula staying on the high end of the dosage range more long term may be appropriate - be sure to check with me if you're curious.

The low end of the dosage range is for

Budgeting (a smaller dose costs less per month
Maintenance - your symptoms are resolved - this is just to keep them at bay
Secondary support - you're taking other formulas this is just part of what you're doing or it's for a secondary issue.

Base your dose on where you want to be in the dosage range - and the actual amount varies with each company and formulation as concentrations vary.

If your body is very large or very small - adjust your dosage up or down a bit from the average.

KAN HERBALS

Kan Herbs Tablets

Range:

1 to 2 tablets, 2 to 3 times daily

So..

MIddle (regular dose) 2 tablets twice a day
Higest 2 tabets three times a day
Maintenance 1 tablet twice a day

Kan Herbs Tinctures

Range:

20 to 30 drops, 2 to 3 times daily

So...

Middle 20-30 drops (one squirt or most of one squirt) twice a day
High: 1 squirt three times a day or two squirts twice a day
Low - 15 once a day or twice a day

GENERAL: in liquid tinctures - on average one SQUIRT is 30 drops. so

Shake your bottle.
Loosen the top.
Squeeze and release the bulb on top of the dropper. Remove from bottle - it'll be about 1/2-3/4 full

this amount is ONE SQUIRT and is usually around 30 drops (but you can count to check for your formula - it depends somewhat on the thickness of the liquid.)

Range 1-2 tablets 1 - 3 times day

so

Regular dose: 2 tablets twice a day
High dose - 2 tablets three times a day
Maintenance or low dose - 1 tablet 1 - 2 times per day

Three Treasures & Women's Treasures Tinctures

Range:

10-30 drops 2-3 times day

so..

Regular dose: 30 drops (1 sqirt) twice a day
High dose: 1 squirt 3 times day or 2 squirts twice a day
Low dose: 10 drops twice a day or 10-20 drops once a day
